Crossroads and YES TV work together as Canada’s leaders to provide faith and values-based media content for people of all ages. The media assets of Crossroads/Yes TV/Castle are targeted to engage 10 million people a month under the age of 50 with the life-giving message of Christ. Crossroads is built upon the historic strength of 100 Huntley Street, the flagship television program of Crossroads, and YES TV, both of which were founded by Rev. David Mainse. 100 Huntley Street is the longest running daily television program in Canada.
Crossroads interacts with its viewers via 24/7 prayer lines, answering over 1,600 calls for help each day. Crossroads produces multiple media programs and has also been a highly respected and effective not-for-profit aid agency for over 25 years, having responded in times of natural disaster worldwide, raising funds and partnering with on-site, non-government organizations for emergency relief and long-term rebuilding strategies.
Chief Executive Officer:
Crossroads (a charity) and YES TV (a non-profit) are governed by Boards of Directors. The CEO is responsible and accountable for providing governance, leadership and fiscal management to both. With a visionary outlook and a spiritual calling for evangelism through media, the CEO will be accountable for the strategic, operational and missional success of both Crossroads and YES TV. Supported by a strong C-suite, the CEO will work collectively to advance fundraising efforts, content strategy, prayer centre growth, platform innovations, donor engagement, and operational efficiencies.
This role will require equal parts spiritual and fiscal leadership. A major part of succeeding here will involve your ability to connect with all sorts of people: staff, colleagues, and donors alike. You have a strong theological background and evangelical voice. Whether you’re leading chapel or connecting with other spiritual organizations and individuals, your faith comes through in everything you do.
Taking care of everything from donation targets to balance sheets, you’ll advise our Boards of our current financial situation and provide strategies for improvement. All our key directives and processes are already in place, which means you won’t need to build from the ground up. Your focus will be on key strategies and progress in concert with the directions we are currently taking.
Key Areas of Accountability
Spiritual Leadership – as the CEO, you will bring a deep spiritual life to the community and staff that is mature, rich and Holy Spirit-led. You have a solid biblical understanding and ability to actively participate in the Christian dialogue in Canada.
Fundraising – working with a strong development team that engages thousands of donors monthly via direct mail, on-air asks and fundraising campaigns, you’ll ensure that annual fundraising goals and growth initiatives are responsibly forecasted and met. You understand the importance of Christian charity and can find ways to find donors eager to support the faith in new ways.
Financial Responsibility – reporting regularly to the Boards and Audit Committees, the CEO will work closely with the CDO and CFO and ultimately be responsible for the financial health and sustainability of both entities. The CEO is expected to have strong financial and business acumen.
Organizational Leadership – the Boards have articulated a clear vision for the next three years. The CEO is responsible for building, guiding and mentoring the organizations towards this vision. Although culture is built by everyone in the team, the CEO will be the chief champion of a healthy productive, spiritual and effective work culture. This includes building and maintaining strong organizational elements including structure, processes, development, efficiency and hiring/retaining the right team to support the strategy.
Broadcasting / Media Governance – working with the Director of YES TV and internal team, the CEO needs to be apprised of the dynamics of broadcasting in Canada and in particular: broadcast distributors, media co-producers, Canadian Broadcast Association, production partners, etc.
Content, Platforms & Programming – you’re committed to the spiritual health and well being of the Christian audience. Through writing, online presence and/or regular programming, the CEO will set the voice of the ministry and guide current programming, platforms, content, and dialogue.
Digital Channel Growth – audiences under 50 are a major growth demographic for our mission, and our Boards and executives have generated several key strategies to reach this audience. You may not have technical expertise, but you have ideas for leveraging technologies/channels such as YouTube and Gaming Ministry towards our mission to reach as many Christians as possible.
Specifics and Qualifications
This will be a full-time, permanent position with regular hours Monday to Friday. You will receive a competitive salary in addition to other benefits. There will be some travel involved in this role, up to 25% of your time.
Here are some of things we will be looking for in potential candidates:
- 10+ years progressive responsibility providing leadership and direction to an executive team, preferably in a broadcast/media environment
- Experience in corporate governance
- Experience with profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management
- Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
- Combined Education of a Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Divinity and Business Administration is highly preferred
- Non-profit experience would be an asset
- Ability to pass a credit check
