Crossroads would like to extend a heartfelt
"thank you" to everyone who gave to
the relief efforts in New Orleans and Mississippi.
In the wake of the devastation that Hurricane
Katrina left, we are proud to update you on
the lasting impact of your donation.
During the initial response of the Hurricane
we partnered with The
Goodness Project providing hot meals and
relief items to the victims of Katrina. Through
this partnership, Crossroads was able to contribute
over 2 million pounds of food and needed supplies
transported to New Orleans in 57 tractor-trailer
loads. More than 67,000 hot meals were given
to those in need.
The next phase of our relief efforts went towards
the reconstruction of homes damaged by the effects
of gale force winds, rain and the breaking of
the levies causing extreme water damage. Once
again partnered with The
Goodness Project, we supplied truck loads
of building materials and supplies to help rebuild
some of the homes in the Algiers area.
These efforts could not have been done without
the support of you!
It is with great joy that we acknowledge the
11 work teams and over 120 people that volunteered
during our Gulf Coast relief efforts. They gave
of their time, money and efforts to travel to
New Orleans and Mississippi. It was through
these teams and your donation that God's love
was extended in a very real and practical way.
Hot meals were prepared and served, relief items
organized and distributed. Walls torn down,
electrical wiring, plumbing, drywalling, painting,
roofing etc., were all done in the name of Jesus.
Although the volunteers gave of their physical
abilities, the most important work they accomplished
was through their willingness to serve and show
compassion to those who thought they were forgotten.
"This is my commandment, that you love
one another, just as I have loved you."
Please join us on August 29th on 100
Huntley Street as Ron and Ann, and Reynold
and Kathy along with some of our team members
share their stories of Katrina.
