Frequently Asked Questions!

Why do you only offer files in RealMedia format?
RealMedia is available to anyone free of charge and is widely used throughout the internet.  The files generally load and play faster than other formats.  The total file size is also much smaller than other formats and because the 100 Huntley Street program is 1 hour in length, size is a consideration. Why is the picture not very clear?
Files created for 56K connections are highly compressed.  Because this connection speed is relatively slow, not as much data can be transfered from the web to the user's RealPlayer.  Therefore the video (picture) is sacrificed, giving preference to the audio.  For faster cable connections, more information can be transfered, thus allowing for a much better picture. Why does RealPlayer keep stopping, and then start
playing again after a while?
The most common reason for this is high internet traffic.  RealPlayer will buffer (load into memory) a certain portion of the file before it begins to play.  Then as it plays, it continues to receive more of the file into the buffer.  If it can't replenish fast enough, the file will stop playing as RealPlayer keeps trying to buffer more data.  There is a setting you can check in your player, under "View", "Preferences", "Connection".  The "Buffered play" option is best set to "Buffer entire clip up to available memory."  The player usual comes defaulted to this setting, but it's worth checking if you're having problems.  You might also consider downloading the file and playing it directly from your c: drive.  This way you're not competing against other internet traffic as it plays!
